The Half-Truth of ‘Consistency Is Key’: A Spiritual Business Coach’s Guide to Authentic, Aligned Growth

Real consistency isn’t about forcing yourself.

It’s about honouring your rhythm, trusting your energy, and growing your business with authentic alignment.

My client (let’s call her Susan) had built a pretty successful practice.
She’d checked all the boxes: regular content, structured days, and solid habits.
On paper, she was doing everything right.

But when she came to me, she was exhausted.
She said, “I’m doing all the things I’m supposed to do… but something feels off.”

And she was right.
Because what she was losing, slowly but surely, was her ease, her naturalness. And most importantly, her magic.

The Cost of Forcing Consistency

Magic (that ease of creation and synchronicity) only flows when you’re being totally natural, when you’re completely yourself.

All of you.

But most of us are taught to override that naturalness.
We’re told that “consistency is key,” that showing up the same way every day is the secret to success.

And for a while, it works.
Until it doesn’t.

Because when consistency becomes an identity instead of a tool, it disconnects you from your energy.
It turns creation into performance. Or much worse, a guilt trip you run on yourself. “I should be more consistent” and “I should post every day”

And that’s where burnout begins.

The Wisdom I Learned from Gate 10 in my Human Design

In Human Design, Gate 10  is all about Self Love.

When I was first introduced to Human Design, I was told that “Self Love” was my life purpose.

As an energy healer and business coach, who focuses on helping people identify the limiting beliefs they are holding about themselves, the world, their business that are keeping them stuck, that didn’t sound right at all.

“Self-love? That’s not what I teach or help my clients find” I thought. “I mean, my clients love finding out where they have been believing energetic lies. They love seeing, with a smack in the face, the limiting beliefs that have been keeping them invisible or struggling in their business. That is kind of a form of self love, but that feels like a stretch.”

So I ignored it for two years.

Then I discovered the Gene Keys, and in that system, Gate 10 is called Naturalness.  This reminds us that the most powerful thing we can ever do is live in alignment with our natural way of being.

Ahhh… YES. That’s it!
That’s what I help my clients find.

After all, for years I’ve said:

“Being all of YOU is the best Business tactic there is”.

It’s Cliche but I help my clients find themselves. Or, more accurately, to step out of all the should’s, have to’s, and the stories put on them by others that tell them there is a right way and a wrong way to be themselves.

I help clients give themselves permission to be. And to have fun and ease and Joy.

Does that mean Strategy goes out the window? Is it all about “Feeling good”?

Not at all.

For healers, therapists, and coaches, a thriving business is part of the healing path itself. I began my journey offering only energy healing sessions, focused solely on transformation from the inside out.

But after working with hundreds of healers over the years, I noticed something important: almost all of them needed help with the structure of their business, too.

They struggled to:

  • articulate their niche,

  • design a signature offer,

  • and build a business model that actually works. One that supports them energetically and financially.

So I began blending spiritual business coaching with my energy work, helping clients pair flow with framework, and intuition with intention.

Because yes, strategy matters. But the strategy has to come from your natural rhythm, not someone else’s formula. You don’t need more pressure; you need clarity, motivation, and accountability that’s rooted in truth,  not guilt, or “Should’s”.

  • Underneath every business challenge I’ve seen is one deeper invitation: to return to your natural way of being, where your business feels like an expression of your soul, not an obligation, a “Have to”.

Gate 10, the Gate of Self-Love, isn’t about pampering or self-care slogans. It’s about radical honesty.

And more than authenticity or alignment, I call it honestly expressing yourself. The kind of expression that takes courage. The kind that refuses to trade your own rhythm for anyone else’s.

When you honour this gate, you stop trying to be consistent with systems and start being consistent with yourself.
You move from performing discipline to practicing self-trust.

And ironically, that’s when real consistency shows up, not the forced kind, but the alive kind.

Discomfort vs. Misalignment

Now, this doesn’t let you off the hook from doing hard things.
This isn’t about “just do what feels good.”

Inside my business coaching program, we talk a lot about the difference between emotional discomfort and energetic misalignment.

  • Emotional discomfort happens when you’re stretching. For example raising your rates, being visible, or sharing something vulnerable. Your nervous system is catching up to your expansion. That kind of discomfort grows you.

  • Energetic misalignment, on the other hand, feels deadening. It’s the thing that drains you, dulls you, and quietly pulls you away from your aliveness.

It might even sound inspiring:

“If you want to succeed, fail faster!”
“Fake it till you make it!”
“Just do it!”

But these half-truths breed self-abandonment disguised as discipline. You start lying to yourself.
When you learn to tell the difference, you stop forcing what’s unnatural and start honouring what’s real.

Your Rhythm Is the Real Discipline

There’s a rhythm to everything; breath, seasons, relationships, creativity.
You can’t inhale forever, and you can’t exhale forever either.

Your work, your energy, and your inspiration all move in the same way: in cycles.

When you let your rhythm lead, you’ll still show up.
You’ll still take bold action.
But you’ll do it from a place of energy that’s alive, not from willpower and guilt.

That’s what Gate 10, and this whole piece, is really about:
Loving yourself enough to move in harmony with your nature, not against it.

This is what I help my clients do every day, bring spiritual alignment and practical business clarity together.
Because when your strategy reflects your spirit, motivation and accountability stop being struggles, they become expressions of your rhythm.

The Only Consistency That Matters

So no, consistency isn’t the key.

Alignment is.

Be consistent in listening to yourself.
Be consistent in honouring your energy.
Be consistent in showing up when it feels alive and resting when it doesn’t.

Because the only thing worth being consistent about in business, in love, and in life, is being fully, naturally, energetically you.
