Oh, were you distracting yourself?

It’s ok, I still love you. Now, let’s …

  • Take a deep breath.

  • Smile.

  • Gently touch your face or forearms and ask yourself …

For what are you going to FB, Email or Youtube?

  • Dopamine - For a “Quick fix”, pleasure and a reward, the “Get up and go”, some motivation.

  • Serotonin - I want a more Stable happy mood

  • Oxytoxin - “I want to share something I just thought of” or “I just want to see what people are up to.” I need Love and connection, I want to feel warm and fuzzy.

  • Adrenaline - “I’m bored or tired so I need some Excitement, a surprise, drama, something edgy to wake me up.” (Thinking about my REAL next task is tiresome or takes more energy than I feel I have)

Could you get up and do

  • some jumping jacks?

  • Or a push up?

  • Or a Sun Salutation?

    • Or some quick physical thing to feel good about?

Priorities - What you really care about

Now that you’re brain is happy again, and you have filled your need, let’s take a moment to focus on what you REALLY want to create.

  1. Love and Connection

    1. Is there anyone you could go hug? Or a tree? Or pray with God for a minute to reconnect?

  2. Pleasure and Motivation

    • What is something you could feel proud about? What is one thing you could accomplish next that you would feel good about?

  3. Stabilize a happy mood

    1. Visualize a happy memory or scene. Who do you love and who loves you? What is a favourite memory you could experience for a minute with your eyes closed?

  4. Adrenaline

    1. Do you just need to go for a run or walk? Do you need a pick me up like doing some push up’s or Yoga? If you’re bored, maybe the work you are doing just isn’t truly fulfilling? What would be more meaningful to you?
